California Highway Patrol officers made 108 California DUI arrests in San Diego California during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, down from 128 California dui arrests during the same period last year, the CHP reported Sunday morning.
The California drunk driving arrests were recorded from Wednesday at 6 p.m. through Sunday at 6 a.m.
Two fatalities were reported this year, while five occurred during the same period last year. A 22-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl died in a rollover solo-car crash near Balboa Park in San Diego early Saturday morning, according to the medical examiner's office.
California DUI arrests during the period were also lower statewide, with 1,397 California dui arrests this year compared to 1,497 California drunk driving arrests in 2007.
Fatalities statewide were lower too, with 24 this year compared to 34 in 2007.
The fatality number reflects deaths reported by all California law enforcement agencies, while the California DUI arrests are only those made by CHP officers.
