Some excellent questions to begin asking when searching for a California DUI lawyer, San Diego update

San Diego California DUI attorneys are told various California DUI enforcement agencies are teaming up to try and make State Route 67 safer for all drivers after a car crashed that killed a 25-year-old Ramona mother.vvSR-67 stretches 25 miles from El Cajon up to Ramona. It is a winding, hilly drive that features two lanes, passing lanes and turn lanes.

Authorities and many drivers said this highway has proven to be dangerous and sometimes fatal. The roadside memorial for Alexandria McKeirnan-Drake grows each day.A cross decorated with her picture is at the scene, along with candles, flowers and words of remembrance.

Drake died Sunday after a crash on SR-67, near Archie Moore Road just outside of Ramona. It is one of the most treacherous stretches of SR-67, and in this case authorities said a Jaguar and BMW were drag-racing.

The driver of the Jaguar lost control and struck Drake's car, sending it into a tree, authorities said.

Drake was mortally injured, but her 4-week-old son, Jayden, was not injured. He was in a car seat in the back seat of the car.

Melvin Pearless, 47, of Ranchita, was the driver of the Jaguar. "The driver of the Jaguar is facing a minimum of manslaughter ... it depends on what the investigation reveals," said California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Pennings.vvThe investigation includes the search for a white BMW that sped away following the crash. "We will be sending out re-constructionists to analyze, determine speed ... mathematically analyze how fast cars were going prior to the collision," said Pennings.

SR-67 has long been known as highly dangerous, as 11 people have died in San Diego California DUI / drunk driving-related crashes in the past three years. There will be stepped-up enforcement on the highway thanks to a year-long $265,000 grant for the "Arrive Alive, Don't Drink And Drive" program.

"It's one of two highways in California, selected as a DUI highway safety corridor," San Diego California DUI / drunk driving attorneys are told.

A task force will look for ways to improve safety on the highway and extra San Diego California DUI / drunk driving officers will be on patrol.

"It's both roving and DUI checkpoints," San Diego California DUI / drunk driving authorities believe.

The San Diego California DUI / drunk driving checkpoints begin April 1, which is also when funeral arrangements are expected to be finalized for Drake.

The mission of the San Diego California DUI / drunk driving task force is to monitor drivers under the influence, but it will also asses traffic and pedestrian factors.

In other Route 67 DUI news, San Diego California DUI / drunk driving authorities Tuesday released the name of a 43-year-old drunken driving suspect who was fatally struck by a pickup truck in Lakeside after he ditched his car and attempted to run from law enforcement.
