DUI cops do their best to ruin fun festivals this weekend

Why is the cops want to cherry pick folks who are trapped coming out of a nice weekend festival? Just for a DUI quota!

California DUI police are planning extra California Drunk Driving patrols in Novato this weekend to check for California DUI people. The patrols coincide with weekend graduation events and the Novato Festival of Art, Wine and Music, which is expected to attract 10's of thousands of people today and tomorrow. The patrols will operate from 6 p.m. Saturday until midnight, and between 4 and 10 p.m. Sunday.

In Salina California area, 1 driver was ticketed for a California DUI at DUI "checklanes" in operation following the Smoky Hill River Festival’s Festival Jam Thursday night, and five additional California DUI arrests were made by patrol officers. Between 10 and 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Front and Crawford streets, 93 cars entered the checklanes and several drivers were evaluated. No one was cited for California DUI but lots of folks were inconvenienced.

California DUI police must follow strict California DUI checkpoint rules so that their conduct is constitutional. If not, California DUI cases are thrown out of court and DMV.
