Here's the DUI checkpoints to watch out for while driving around California tonight:
Torrance Police Department will be conducting a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint on June 19, 2009 from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Torrance and Henrietta. In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol-related crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the streets, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
The Riverside Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, June 19, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., location presently unknown (don't you hate it when they play that game!)
Riverside's position is that a DUI checkpoint is a visible and effective method for raising awareness and reducing the incidence of drinking then driving. By publicizing these enforcement and education efforts, the Riverside Police Department believes motorists could be deterred from drinking and driving and encourages sober designated drivers.
This site will continue to update drunk driving checkpoint locations.
The California Supreme Court has let these cops know they must follow strict rules and procedures when doing these DUI checkpoints.
