Motorized Ice Chest results in DUI arrest

One Aussie stopped for driving a motorized cooler box through a beachside resort town faces DUI drunk driving, and must appear in court August 18, 2011 with his criminal defense lawyer.

Christopher Petrie, stopped in a makeshift vehicle, powered by a 50cc engine, in Noosa on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane.

Petrie's DUI attorneys prevailed at an adjournment from magistrate John Parker as they sought to establish "whether a motorized esky [cooler box] was in fact a motor vehicle."

"How much beer can it hold?" he asked the defendant. Criminal Defense DUI lawyer Petrie argued the cooler box could hold "at least a couple of cartons."
